Welcome to Hocus Pocus Day Nursery, a nurturing and inspiring environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Founded by siblings Mia and Ian Kilburn, our family-run nursery has been a cornerstone of the Bolton community for over 20 years. In 2024, we proudly celebrated our 21st anniversary, a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional care for children.
After deciding to preserve their family home of 35 years, Mia and Ian, with the support of their mother, Margaret, transformed the property into a purpose-built day nursery. The result is a seamless blend of original features and modern amenities, offering a safe, inspiring, and accessible space for children and families.
Since opening in October 2003, Hocus Pocus has become a trusted name in childcare. We are registered with Ofsted and can care for up to 90 children, offering flexible full-time, part-time, and term-time sessions for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. We are open 51 weeks a year, with breaks only for Bank Holidays and Christmas. Additionally, we offer term-time funded sessions for children aged 2-4 years through the Nursery Education Grant.
As a family nursery, we take great pride in the long-term relationships we've built with both our staff and families. We're especially proud that many of our dedicated team members have been with us for over 10 years. We are committed to their professional growth, offering regular training opportunities, which has helped us earn numerous awards over the years. Our nursery is fully accessible, with thoughtful features such as a lift to all floors, exterior ramps, and accessible toilets, ensuring that every child and family can enjoy our services with ease and comfort.

Being a registered childcare provider, Hocus Pocus Day Nursery must met strict government guidelines at all times, ensuring the safety of both our team and all our service users. Below are our current ratings from both Ofsted Inspections as well as Food Safety Inspections.
